In the glow of dozens of candles lit in the remembrance of a lost life, a sister offered a song of love and support in memory of her lost twin.
 
    The Highland County Victim/Witness Program held its third annual candlelight vigil Thursday evening at the Hillsboro Church of Christ to commemorate National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

A motorist led law enforcement on a pursuit through several county roads Thursday afternoon, ending after the suspect bailed from the vehicle and fled into a wooded area.
 
    Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward said the incident began at approximately 1:24 p.m. when a deputy was on road patrol in the Boston area.

    Judges from Ohio's Fourth District Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments Thursday in the appeals of two Highland County cases where the defendants were convicted of first-degree felony counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity in an alleged drug trafficking enterprise.

The former executive director of Highland County Children Services has filed a lawsuit against the Highland County Board of Commissioners and Highland County's Department of Job and Family Services/Child Support Enforcement and Child Protective Agency. for wrongful termination. The suit was filed Friday in the Highland County Clerk of Courts Office by an attorney for Wendy Jacobs, alleging that she was wrongfully discharged by the county from her job at Highland County's Department of Job and Family Services/Child Support Enforcement and Child Protective Agency.

Seeking public opinion on the proposed closure of four Highland County rest areas, the Ohio Department Transportation held a public hearing Monday evening. While some residents said they felt the areas were a meeting ground that harbored illegal activity, others say they are a necessity for motorists, and provide jobs for area residents.

    Approximately a dozen people turned out for Monday's meeting at the Hi-TEC facility in Hillsboro.

The kindergarten students at Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School brought in items to donate to the animal shelter.

    No injuries or significant structural damages were reported following a house fire in Jackson Township Sunday evening.

    Hillsboro Fire and Rescue responded to the incident at 1465 Young Road, to a report of a two-story structure fire.
