Governor signs HB 37

State Senator Bob Peterson (R–Sabina) has announced that Gov. John Kasich has signed House Bill 37, sponsored by Representatives Gary Scherer (R–Circleville) and Mike Duffy (R–Worthington), which creates the SharedWork Ohio Program.

House passes a 'farm only' farm bill, first time in 50 years

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the House of Representatives passed a stand-alone, five-year farm bill that specifically addresses the nation’s farm and agriculture needs. H.R. 2642 contains crop insurance and conservation provisions as well as repeals outdated agriculture laws dating back to 1949. Representative Brad Wenstrup supported the final passage.

Popular Christian singer-songwriter Brandon Heath will open the 2013 Festival of the Bells on July 4 at 9 p.m. Hillsboro will be having a "Farm Party" at the 2013 Festival of the Bells, when The Farm Inc. will be the Friday night concert headliners for this year's event on July 5. The Farm joins Dustin Lynch, who will perform on Saturday, July 6 at the annual festival.

Agencies work together to capture Paul R. Riggs, Jr. in traffic fatalities

Riggs has been transported to Pike County Sheriff’s Office and will later be incarcerated at the Scioto County Jail. He is facing the following charges: three-counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one-count of aggravated vehicular assault.

Becker votes to ban red-light, speed cameras

State Representative John Becker (R-Clermont County) has announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation that would prohibit municipalities, counties, townships and the state highway patrol from using red-light cameras and speed cameras to assist in the enforcement of traffic laws.
