Governor signs HB 37

State Senator Bob Peterson (R–Sabina) has announced that Gov. John Kasich has signed House Bill 37, sponsored by Representatives Gary Scherer (R–Circleville) and Mike Duffy (R–Worthington), which creates the SharedWork Ohio Program.

This initiative will provide an employer the ability to reduce the number of hours worked by employees in lieu of imposing layoffs.

The employees could then apply for unemployment benefits in order to compensate for the reduction of hours worked.

Senator Peterson sponsored the Senate version of this legislation, Senate Bill 25.
