Firefighters battled a blaze at a home off of Roush Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The home, owned by Robert “Bob” Quickle, was destroyed by the fire.

“It really hurts,” Mr. Quickle said. “No one was home at the time, and we don’t know what happened. Except for some things in the garage, we lost everything we have. But possessions can be replaced – people can’t, and I’m thankful no one was hurt.”

Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer discussed the ongoing roofing repairs at the historic Highland County Courthouse being completed by Maines Construction of Hillsboro, additional repairs needed at the Hi-TEC Center, and a roof replacement for the 13-year-old Highland County Justice Center that has been estimated at $15 to $30 per square foot – for approximately 30,000 square feet.
