Greenfield man sentenced on attempted rape charge
A Greenfield man was sentenced recently to five years in prison after pleading guilty to an amended charge of attempted rape.
As previously reported, Donald T. Neel III, 37, of Greenfield was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in May and was charged with one count of rape, a first-degree felony. According to court records, Neel pleaded guilty July 29 to an amended charge of attempted rape, a second-degree felony.
After accepting Neel’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Neel to a definite determinate term of five years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Neel could serve up to seven and a half years in prison. He had 93 days of jail time credit.
In addition, Neel will be classified as a tier III sex offender, requiring registration every 90 days for life.
