  • A beleaguered gentleman: House Speaker Mike Johnson

“You assume risk when you take this job. We don’t back away from risk. I’m going to do the right thing,” Speaker Johnson says as storm clouds – literal ones, not just the political variety – roll in. Financing a land war wasn’t “some minor measure on tax policy. It instead has “implications for the entire world.” After all, the speaker continues, “What is popular isn’t always right; what’s right isn’t always popular.”
  • A sermon on John 10:11-18: The Good Shepherd
I believe God picks you up when life knocks you down. God places you around His loving, caring shoulders. Yet, that doesn't stop some believers from dumping on God their anger or bitterness because they or someone they love is sick.
  • An Easter sermon on John 20:1-9
Easter is a love letter from Jesus written in the ink of His Blood. Use your life to write a love letter back to Him. I believe in God who helps us all. Happy Easter.
  • A sermon on John 11:35
Jesus cried because He is compassionate. He cares for the sufferings of others. Jesus became human so He can understand the sufferings of His people. Jesus didn't know suffering in Heaven. He surely knows it now on earth.
  • A sermon on John 2: 13-25
One of my favorite movies is "Oh, God" from 1977. God appears as a kindly old man (played by George Burns) to an assistant grocery store manager named Jerry Landers (played by John Denver).
  • Rep. Mike Turner issues warning on ‘serious national security threat’
House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner, R-Ohio, today issued an unusual warning about "a serious national security threat" that all members of Congress now have access to information about.
  • A sermon on Mark 1:12-15
Many are giving credit to Travis Kelce for the Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl 58. Not only because of his great performance on the field, but for what he did before the game ever started.
  • A sermon on Mark 1:40-45
Who would have thought that God would use the Three Stooges to touch a sad little boy with happiness? I believe when God heals, He restores the entire person, not just the body. He heals their soul, mind and heart as well.
  • A sermon on Mark 1:29-39
Don't be afraid to approach God even though you have failed Him many times. God wants your faith, not your successes.
  • Rep. Mike Turner cosponsors legislation to repeal death tax
This week, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) cosponsored the bipartisan Death Tax Repeal Act, legislation that would permanently repeal the estate tax and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
  • A sermon on Mark 1:21-28
Mark's story of Jesus healing a man with the evil spirit I call J-Day. It is a report of the very first battle of Jesus fighting Satan for the liberation of the human people. Jesus declared in Mark 1:15, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Good News."
  • A sermon on Mark 1:14-20
God says, "For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12.) When you repent, God remembers your sin no more. Why should you?"
  • A sermon on 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Temperance is where you choose not to do something that would be sinful. Temperance requires a lot of practice. Satan makes sin so pleasurable. That's why so many people do it.
  • A sermon for the Epiphany Matthew 2:1-12
This wise man taught me that even when our sky is at its darkest, there is a star called faith that leads us to the Christ. Keep the faith.
  • Too-high inflation and declining credit ratings warrant action, not celebration
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) November figures for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a common measure of inflation, showed a 12-month rise in prices of 3.1 percent. This rate is still far too high, holding above the target inflation rate of 2 percent, and it continues to negatively ripple through our economy.
  • Bean soup – a Senate tradition with Idaho connections
As I walk the halls of the U.S. Senate feeling very blessed to get to represent the great people of Idaho in this extraordinary seat of freedom, hope and decorum, I take great pride in the bit of Idaho sustenance being served up daily in our Capitol as it fuels needed discussions about how best to govern our great country.
