On Monday, May 6, Southern State hosted the second annual end-of-year celebration for students, faculty, and staff involved in the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS) project. This event occurred in the Patriot Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and culminated the program’s work in southern Ohio, supporting the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS).

Open to community members and students, auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for program year 2024 to provide youth services under the Comprehensive Case Management Program is now open. 

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Ohio Region Awards Conference was held on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9. The event was hosted by Cuyahoga Community College.

The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at a Nov. 16 ceremony held on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus.

The Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) at Southern State Community College is pleased to announce that all cadets have passed the State Certified Exam, granting the program a 100-percent pass rate on the exam portion and a 100-percent pass rate on the physical fitness assessments.

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at noon Wednesday, Sept. 13 on SSCC’s Hillsboro Campus, Room 103, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro for their regular Board meeting.  

Southern State recently joined forces with many local businesses across Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette, and Highland counties to host a monthlong outreach initiative called Patriot Palooza. The event brought awareness to the many programs and opportunities offered by the College as well as the start of Fall Semester, which begins on Aug. 21.

New Vienna Community Church is hosting their annual “Bring a Friend Sunday” Sunday, Aug. 20 featuring a Christian band called Soul Scape.

Community Care Hospice is holding its 19th annual Golf Classic on Sept. 22 at Snow Hill County Club.
