The Lady Indians of Hillsboro defended their home field Tuesday night in their Division I SE District Sectional Semifinal game with a 4-1 winning performance against the Vincent Warren Lady Warriors at Richards Memorial Field.

The Hillsboro Indians traveled to Madison County Friday night, for the second straight week, this time to face the London Red Raiders. HHS prevailed with a 36-21 South Central Ohio League victory at LHS. The win improves the Tribe to 6-2 overall 2-2 in SCOL play.

As the opening games of the 1961-62 SCOL basketball season approached, Hillsboro High School announced that the Indians would be playing five “home” games at Paint Valley High School. This was something of a shock, since Hillsboro figured to be a serious contender for the league basketball title, and they would be giving up their home court advantage. But the gymnasium at HHS was tiny and would seat only 300 to 400 fans. The athletic council figured that they could fill a much larger facility, and they needed the revenue. Also, there was a somewhat subtle push on to overhaul and enlarge the Hillsboro gym.

It was a record breaking night for McClain junior Kelsey Davis, as she set a new MHS assists record Thursday, in the Senior Night victory over the Miami Trace Lady Panthers in four sets.
