    Basketball season tips off for 1992-93

    Dec. 8, 1992 saw the Hillsboro Indians locked in a barnburner at New Richmond. The Indians held a 10-6 first-quarter lead, but both teams scored 17 in the second stanza. The Lions thumped the red-and-white, 14-7 in the third period, to take a 37-34 edge, but Coach Thom Snyder got his charges regrouped, and the Tribe squeaked out a narrow 55-49 SBAC win.

    SSCC soccer opens year at 1-1
    Southern State Community College’s men’s soccer team fell 0-2 to Mid Michigan Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on Aug. 25. On Aug. 24, the Southern State Patriots men’s soccer team made the five-hour trip to Lansing, Mich., where they defeated Great Lakes Christian College (2011 NCCAA II regional semifinalists) by a score of 4-1.

    Indians fall to Goshen, 41-7, in non-league contest
    The Indians played well, at times, in the first half. The two teams battled to a scoreless first quarter, but Hillsboro turnovers led to a pair of Warriors' TDs in the second period. The second half was all Goshen, as the Warriors outscored the Indians, 20-0, after the break for a 41-7 victory.
