Hillsboro Christian Academy Crusaders open 2023-24 season

WEST UNION – Basketball season is underway for Hillsboro Christian Academy. Both the Crusaders and Lady Crusaders begin their seasons with a record of 1-1 after playing back-to-back days on Nov. 16-17.

The teams opened up their 2023-24 season on the road at Milford Christian Academy on Nov. 16. The Lady Crusaders beat the Lady Bulldogs, 24-23, while the Crusaders fell to the Bulldogs, 50-43.

The next day, the Lady Crusaders were beaten by the Ross County Christian Academy Lady Eagles at the Adams County Harvest Hoopfest, 43-19. The Crusaders won their matchup with the hosting Adams County Christian School Eagles, 69-49.

The leading scorers for the Lady Crusaders against the Lady Bulldogs were Lisa VanZant with 17 points and Annie Henderson with four. 

Henderson led the team in points against RCCA with seven and Emma Korte with five points. Henderson was awarded the Harvest Hoopfest Most Outstanding Player for the Lady Crusaders as she finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

The Crusaders were led in scoring against the MCA Bulldogs by Kellin Storer with 17 points and Bryson Willey with nine points. 

The Crusaders were led by Willey and Storer against the ACCS Eagles with 33 and 20 points, respectively. Willey received the Most Outstanding Player award for HCA for his performance in the Harvest Hoopfest.
