Hillsboro Lady Indians fall by 2 points to visiting Circleville

In a non-conference contest between two highly-talented teams Saturday afternoon at Hillsboro High School, the Circleville Lady Tigers left the court with a two-point victory over the host Hillsboro Lady Indians by a 50-48 score.
The Jan. 3 game at HHS included a first quarter where the Lady Indians led by by two points at 10-8, but the visiting Lady Tigers gained the upper hand with a 14-point second quarter, while HHS scored nine points.
At halftime it was Circleville leading the Lady Indians, 22-19.
Hillsboro battled in the third with 15 points added to the home side of the scoreboard, while CHS scored 12 points for a 34-34 score after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the two teams went back-and-forth on the court, but ultimately the visiting Lady Tigers were in the lead when the final buzzer sounded Saturday, outscoring the Lady Indians 16-14 in the final eight-minute fourth quarter.
HHS junior Tylee Davis totaled 17 points in the home loss with those points being scored off four two-pointers, two 3-pointers and she finished 3-of-4 in her free throw attempts. Davis also had seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Ella Jordan followed with nine points (two 3-pointers, one two-pointer, 2-of-6 FT line) along with two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Kobie Miles finished the game with eight points off three two-point baskets and a 2-of-2 performance from the free-throw line. Miles added one rebound, three assists and one steal.
Scoring six points each were Piper Wilkin and Annia Young. Wilkin had three two-point shots from the field, then added two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Young made two two-point buckets, and was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Young also added six rebounds (three offensive), one assist and one steal.
Scoring two points was Parker Wilkin as she also had a steal. Teammate Taylor-Ann Scruggs had one assist.
Team totals for Hillsboro included 14 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers (Davis 2, Jordan 2), 18 rebounds (five offensive), 12 assists, and 10 steals.
Hillsboro now has an overall record of 8-4 with a FAC record of 4-1 this season. Circleville improves to 8-2 overall.
Next for the Lady Indians is a home FAC game on Saturday, Jan. 10 against the Miami Trace Lady Panthers (2-3, 4-7) at noon.
