Lady Mustangs lose by 1 point to Eastern
The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs traveled to Eastern Brown High School on Monday, where they fell to the host Eastern Lady Warriors by a 30-29 score.
Only one quarter in the game did a team score at least 10 points in a frame, but the first quarter saw both teams battle, with the result of Eastern leading by a 7-6 score. In the second, the Lady Mustangs bounced back to win the frame at 8-5, leaving LCHS ahead 14-12 at halftime.
The third quarter saw a combined 18 points from both Southern Hills Athletic Conference rivals, as Eastern had 10 points in the frame, while LCHS totaled eight points for a 22-22 tied score after three complete quarters.
The fourth and final quarter was close on the scoreboard where Eastern prevailed with an 8-7 frame to win by one point, gaining the SHAC victory along the way.
Allie Waits led LCHS with 11 points, making three 3-pointers, followed by Adilyn Carraher with nine points (two 3-pointers).
Next for Lynchburg-Clay were Savannah Bell with five points, and Lily Ferguson scored four points.
As a team, the Lady Mustangs had 23 rebounds (seven offensive), led by Madison McMullen with eight, Joslyn Rockey with six and Bell collecting five. Also with rebounds were Ferguson (two), Waits (one) and Carraher (one).
LCHS also totaled seven assists with Rockey and Bell each with three and Ferguson having one assist. As for steals, LCHS finished with eight as a team, led by McMullen with three, Bell with two and with one steal apiece were Rockey, Ferguson, and Ava McLaughlin. The Lady Mustangs also had two block, one each by Carraher and Ferguson.
Eastern was led in scoring by Sophia Uhl with 11, followed by Tabby Schumacher with eight.
Team totals for EHS were 18 rebounds (five offensive), eight assists, 10 steals and three blocks. Eastern’s lone 3-pointer was made by Lilly Yuppa.
The loss sent LCHS to an overall record of 2-4 with a 1-3 mark in the SHAC. Eastern improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the SHAC.

Lady Indians dominate in win over Jackson
Going to Jackson on Wednesday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians were able to gain a Frontier Athletic Conference win over the host Jackson Ironladies by a 56-33 score en route to their fifth win of the season.
Two HHS players scored in double figures, with Tylee Davis leading the Lady Indians with 16 points and Peighton Bledsoe scoring 14 points.
Davis totaled six two-point baskets and four made free throws. Davis also collected her sixth consecutive double-double to start the season with 12 rebounds (five offensive). Davis’ game also included two assists, eight steals and a block.
Bledsoe had one 3-pointer, three made free throws and four two-point baskets. Bledsoe also added three rebounds, one assist and five steals.
The Lady Indians’ scoring also included Kayla Seeling (three points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal), Kobie Miles (six points, six rebounds, four steals), Ella Jordan (eight points, one rebound, two assist, four steals), Dinah Ames (seven points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals, one block) and Annia Young (two points, one rebound, one block). Piper Wilkin collected three rebounds for HHS.
As a team, the Lady Indians totaled 32 rebounds (16 offensive), seven assists, 25 steals and three blocks. HHS finished with three 3-pointers, 16 two-point baskets and were 15-of-28 from the free-throw line.
HHS now stands at 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the FAC.

McClain take home win at Miami Trace
The McClain Lady Tigers earned an important Frontier Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday as they traveled to Fayette County to defeat the Miami Trace Lady Panthers by a score of 45-36.
MTHS led the Lady Tigers 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, only to see MHS battle back with a 12-5 second quarter, going the Lady Tigers a 20-16 halftime lead.
In the second half, MHS won the third quarter at 13-8, and both teams scored 12 points each in the final frame.
McClain was led by Larah Henson with 14 points (two 3-pointers), and Paisley Pryor totaled 11 points. Brenna Wright finished with nine points, Anna Eikenberry totaled seven points, and Brie Cummins scored four points for McClain.
Gracie Lovett led Miami Trace with 17 points.
The win improves McClain to an overall record of 7-1 and 3-0 in the FAC.

Fairfield loses on road to Ripley
In a Thursday Southern Hills Athletic Conference game at Ripley High School, the Fairfield Lady Lions continued to gain valuable experience on the court in conference play, but were unable to gain the victory as they lost to the host Lady Blue Jays, 58-39.
Fairfield trailed by only one point after one quarter at 10-9, but RHS came back with a 15-8 second frame, putting the Lady Lions behind 25-17 at halftime. In the third, Fairfield scored 14 points, but Ripley answered with 21 points in the same quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Blue Jays add 12 points to their total, while Fairfield scored eight points in the final eight minutes.
Fairfield’s leading scorer was Meri Jackson with 12 points, followed by Rilee Quickle with 10 points.
The Lady Lions also had five points each from Isabelle Hale and Jaeden Drury, three points from Kassi Miller and two points apiece scored by Vivian Henninger and Addison Cannon.
Ripley was led by Raquel Hackney with 22 points and Grace Taylor with 16 points.
Fairfield now stands at 0-3 in the SHAC and 0-6 overall.
