McClain Tigers defeat Nelsonville-York

On Tuesday, the McClain Tigers gained a three-run non-conference victory over Nelsonville-York at Mitchell Park in Greenfield for their seventh win of the season.

McClain gained the lead early with two runs in the bottom of the first, then broke away from NYHS with five runs in the second, building a 7-0 advantage.

NYHS scored two runs in the top of the fourth, and MHS added a run in the bottom of the same inning for an 8-2 lead. NYHS scored two more runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings, while McClain scored one final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

McClain finished the game with eight hits and committed four errors, while Nelsonville-York had five hits and six errors.

Seth Weller was 2-for-4 with two runs, and also with two hits was Haydon Hice at 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, a double and one walk. Jayden Allison also finished 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, one run and a steal.

Andrew Potts ended the game 1-for-2 with one run, two walks, four steals and a HBP. Tanner Dalton was 1-for-4 in the win.

Kaden Penwell collected one run, two RBI and a walk. Gavin Warren totaled a walk, HBP and a steal. Owen Sykes scored a run and had a walk.

Potts was the winning pitcher as he pitched six innings, allowing four unearned runs on four hits and three walks. Potts finished with seven strikeouts as he threw 105 pitches, 68 for strikes, facing 29 batters.

Cohen Six pitched one inning and gained the save. He allowed two earned runs on one hit and one walk. He totaled one strikeout, throwing 17 pitches, 10 for strikes, facing five batters.

MHS is now 7-10-1 overall.
