Lady Lions win 5th consecutive game; gain recent wins vs. Fayetteville, Whiteoak and McClain; Maynard tosses no-hitter

The Fairfield Lady Lions have won five consecutive games, with three of those wins coming on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this past week, as they’ve defeated the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, Whiteoak Lady Wildcats and McClain Lady Tigers all on the road from April 9-11.
The wins moved Fairfield’s overall record to 12-3, with a 5-0 record in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, putting them in first place of the Division II SHAC standings.
In Thursday’s win (April 9), the Lady Lions traveled to Fayetteville and defeated the host Lady Rockets, 10-5 in 10 innings as the two teams combined for 32 hits, with Fairfield leading 19-13 in the hit category. The Lady Lions committed one error and Fayetteville had three errors.
It was Fayetteville leading 1-0 after the first inning, and they built a 4-1 lead after two innings, outscoring the Lady Lions 3-1 in the second inning.
Fairfield responded with one run in each of the next three innings for a 4-4 tied score. It wasn’t until the top of the 10th inning when the tied score was broken, as Fairfield put up five runs to their side for a 10-4 lead. Fayetteville added one last run in the bottom of the 10th as Fairfield gained a five-run win in SHAC play.
The Lady Lions had Ally Maynard finish 4-for-6 at the plate with a double to lead FHS in the hits category.
Also with three hits was Jorgia Smith at 3-for-5 with a double and home run, plus she scored two runs and collected three RBI.
Kelsie Crowder was 3-for-6 with two runs and a double. Ava White was 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Whitlee Morrow finished 2-for-6 with one run, while teammate Alyssa Bales went 1-for-5 with one run. Layla Howard ended the game at 1-for-5. Fairfield’s Jorja May went 1-for-5 with a run. Rilee Quickle went 1-for-6 with two runs, a double and a steal.
Quickle was the winning pitcher, pitching all 10 innings, allowing five earned runs with nine strikeouts.
Lilly Carlier led Fayetteville at 4-for-5 with two runs, one RBI, a double, a triple, a walk and two steals. Chloe Cox of Fayetteville hit a home run as she was 2-for-4 with one run, three RBI, a triple and a walk.

The following day on Thursday (April 10) Fairfield defeated SHAC and Highland County rival Whiteoak by a 14-1 score in five innings, where Ally Maynard pitched a no-hitter in five innings.
In her pitching performance, Maynard went five innings in the circle where she allowed no earned runs on no hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
For Fairfield, they had one run in the bottom of the first, followed by a four-run second. A run crossed home plate in the third, and then came a five-run fourth inning and three more runs scored in the top of the fifth.
Fairfield had Whitlee Morrow finish 3-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a triple and a steal. Jorgia Smith was 3-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and a double.
Alyssa Bales was 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
Kelsie Crowder finished 2-for-2 with one run, two RBI, a double, one home run and two walks.
Layla Howard finished the game at 1-for-2 with a run, one RBI and one walk. Maynard was 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a double and a walk. Whitlee Morrow ended the day at 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a triple and one steal.
Rilee Quickle was 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a triple, a sacrifice fly and two steals. Ava White finished at 1-for-2 with one run, two RBI, a double, and she was hit by a pitch.

On Saturday, April 11 the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the McClain Lady Tigers 9-8 in extra innings at Daryle Unger Field in Greenfield.
The eight-inning game saw both Highland County teams battle strong with FHS leading 4-0 after the first inning, then they added one run in the top of the second for a 5-0 lead.
McClain came back strong to take the lead following two runs in the bottom of the third and a five-run fourth inning for a 7-5 lead over Fairfield.
That lead jumped to 8-5 after the Lady Tigers added one run in the bottom of the fifth. The Lady Lions forced extra innings with a three-run top of the seventh for an 8-8 score, then Fairfield gained the win with one run in the eighth.
Rilee Quickle led Fairfield with three hits as she ended the non-conference game at 3-for-5 with three runs, one RBI, a double and two steals. Quickle was also the winning pitcher, going all 10 innings in the circle where she had three strikeouts.
Fairfield had two hits from Ally Maynard, who was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, as one of her hits was a double, plus she added a steal.
Having one hit each were Alyssa Bales (1-for-4, one run, one walk), Kelsie Crowder (1-for-3, one run, a home run, two walks) and Layla Howard (1-for-3, one RBI, a walk).
The Lady Lions also had Jorjia May score a run, force a walk and steal one base. Whitlee Morrow finished with a run a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Jorgia Smith had one RBI and was hit by a pitch on two occasions. Ava White collected one RBI and forced a walk.
McClain had Leah Lovett end her day with four hits going 4-for-5 with three RBI, a steal and a double.
The Lady Tigers had two three-hit performances at the plate as Emma Posey was 3-for-5 with two runs, and Olivia Stegbauer finished 3-for-5 with a double, one steal, two runs and two RBI.
Brie Cummins for MHS was 2-for-4 with a double, one run, three RBI and a walk. Cami Gall was 2-for-5, and Kyndee Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs. Williams also pitched for McClain as she was in the circle for all right innings, totaling five strikeouts.
Amaya Ryan finished the day at 1-for-5 with one run for the Lady Tigers. Kambriah Tomlin walked once.
