The Highland County Dog Pound has the following dogs available for adoption or rescue pulls as of Dec. 13, listed courtesy of the Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound.
(1) Luna: Luna is a smaller mixed breed who weighs 33 lbs. She is very sweet and does well with other dogs. Luna is around 5 years old. Luna will need a home with no cats. She is also very good with children. She has lived with an 8–9-year-old.
(2) Dash: Dash is a mixed breed who weighs around 50 lbs. He is around a year old. He seems to be OK with other dogs here. Dash has lots of energy and would make the perfect hiking buddy.
(3) Mandy: Mandy came to us as a stray. She is 1-2 years old and weighs 45-50 lbs. She is very friendly with everyone and seems to be OK with other dogs. Pretty girl.
(4) Shade: Shade is a German Shepherd mix who came to us as an owner surrender along with Nira and Koda. Shade is 8 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. Shade loves to play ball, and she is very motivated with treats or her ball. She is great with dogs, has lived with children (from 0-9 yrs old) and has also lived with cats. She is also well mannered and does not mess in her kennel.
(5) Eve: Eve came to us as a stray. She is very friendly and seems to do well with other dogs. Eve is estimated at 3 years old and weighs 55 lbs.
(6) Charlie: Charlie is a hound mix who weighs around 60 lbs. He is around 2-3 years old. This guy was dumped at a local beach. He is very sweet and loving. He seems to be OK with other dogs.
(7) Cornelius: Cornelius is a bully mix who came to us as a stray. He was huddled beside a barn. We actually questioned if he was still alive. Cornelius is very friendly but he is so skinny. He is estimated at 3 years old but due to his health status at the moment it's hard to tell.
(8) Figgy: Figgy is a lab mix who came to us as a stray. Figgy weighs around 60 lbs. He is very sweet and picture perfect! He seems to be OK with other dogs.
(9) Kringle: Kringle is a boxer mix who is around 2 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. Kringle is neutered and microchipped however an owner never came forward. He is a very good boy and seems to be OK with other dogs.
(10) Clarice: Clarice is a heeler mix who weighs around 30-35 lbs and is around 2 years old. She was taken through a humane case where 12 other dogs were taken from a home. She was kenneled with another dog and has only known the outside life. She was very happy to see a bed!
(11) Yeti: Yeti is a heeler/shepherd mix who weighs around 35-40 lbs. He is around 2 years old. He was kenneled with Clarice in a hoarding situation. These dogs were in very poor condition living outside in a kennel that couldn't be opened to give food or water. He is shy when meeting and will take a bit for him to come to you. Once he does he shows you the living dog we know he is.
(12) Rocky: Rocky is a male Australian shepherd mix who is a little less than a year old. He weighs 40 lbs. He is very sweet and does well with other dogs.
(13) Sterling: Sterling is a female cattle dog mix who is around 1-2 years old and weighs 37 lbs. Very good girl and does well with other dogs.
(14) Lennox: Lennox is a male German Shepherd who is around 2-3 years old. He weighs around 80 lbs. He is very sweet but is also shy. His kennel is his safe spot. He is learning how to walk with a leash. He was owner surrendered ( not his fault, just bad ownership). He is good with other dogs!
(15) Bullet: Bullet is said to be a male Australian shepherd mix who came in with Rocky ( his brother). Bullet is right under a year old and weighs 60 lbs. He is very sweet and good with other dogs.
(16) Dexter: Dexter is a mixed breed male who came to us as a stray with Sterling. He is around 2 years old and weighs 58 lbs. He only has a nub for a tail. He is good with other dogs.
(17) Dusty: Dusty is a male St. Bernard mix who came to us as an owner surrender. He is around 2 years old and weighs 82 lbs. He is good with other dogs.
