Once again, the Freestore Foodbank delivered approximately 5,000 pounds of meat, dairy, canned goods, fresh vegetables, and bakery items to the Fairfield community on Friday, May 14, thanks to the generosity of the Leesburg Chapter #57 Order of the Eastern Star.
The abundantly loaded truck arrived at the Masonic Temple in Leesburg where distribution of the products began at 10 a.m. and ended at 12 noon. The final report indicated that 98 households that included 247 persons received the food.
The extra food remaining at the close of the time designated was taken to the local Fairfield food bank for distribution to the community.
Danny Dalton, Master of the Leesburg Masonic Lodge #78 F&AM, and Brothers Kevin Zimmerman, Hugh Turner, Joe Miller, Chad Cornwell, Curt Shanks, John Dalton, Charles Dunseith, Gene Siniff, Allen Frump, and Hershel Ledford were on hand to assist the Stars in the fast and furious distribution of food. The project was a rewarding success, thanks to the help and support of these men.
Thanks also to the gracious direction of Rasheedah Brown, public relations specialist for the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank, and Craig Brown, the driver of the truck.
A very special thank you to W.A. Hodson trucking company for allowing us to use their facilities to accomplish this worthwhile community project.
