I am 94 years old and like many of you, I am exhausted by politics and saddened by what I see happening to America. I had hoped it was time for me to move to the sidelines and let younger generations continue the fight to preserve America’s founding freedoms and values. But, like so many of us, I realized that I could not let myself walk away; the stakes are just too high.

On Veterans Day, we honor the heroes who sacrifice so much to serve our country.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, seven percent of former U.S. service members experience Post-Traumatic Stress at some point in their lives. Alarmingly, that figure balloons to up to nearly one-third of veterans who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

At least I have found something on which Christians and Muslims agree – no infanticide.

I first met Brad Wenstrup in 2012, along with his former staff member Brian Shrive, who is now an attorney with the Clermont County Prosecutor's Office. I enjoyed speaking with both men. In our first meeting, Dr. Wenstrup talked about the core values associated with leadership, saying, "The Army has an acronym for 'leadership:' Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage (LDRSHIP)."

In the early morning of November 13, 1833, the entire United States east of the Rocky Mountains was treated (or terrified) by what may have been the greatest meteor shower in recorded history. That chilly night, the stars rained down like snow, onlookers remembered. An estimated 72,000 meteors criss-crossed the sky each hour, prompting some people to fall to the ground prostrate, praying to God to save the world.

Veterans Day is a special time to remember and honor the sacrifice of these patriotic Americans who came from all walks of life but had the same sense of purpose – to protect and defend our country and our freedoms.

Congress is watching the “green bank” scheme because they know it is ripe for abuse. The problem is clear: The White House put a political operative in charge of what is nothing more than a political fund. For Barack Obama, they were too big to fail, but Joe Biden is taking it further. When it comes to his failed agenda, his green boondoggles are “too favored to fail.”

The Internal Revenue Service recently awarded a lucrative contract to help modernize its computer databases to the same Washington firm, Booz Allen Hamilton, that employed the man who pleaded guilty last month to stealing and leaking thousands of private tax returns of wealthy Americans, including former President Trump, according to records reviewed by RealClearInvestigations. 

President Reagan’s foreign policy was rooted in the idea that investing in our national defense was key to not only contain communism, but to defeat it. Under the Reagan Doctrine, America embraced “peace through strength” – ultimately placing U.S. leadership at the forefront of democracy to preserve liberty and freedom for all. 

American tech workers are facing the worst industry slump in decades. There's no reason for Congress to kick them while they're down by importing more foreign competition.

Because the directive is unenforceable and has no accountability mechanism, how will taxpayers know if the IRS breaks its promise by auditing more under the $400,000 threshold than it did in 2018, and how will the Administration compensate those who should not have been audited? 

After Hamas massacred 1,400 men, women and children in Israel last month, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned that the terror group “and its allies” could inspire attacks on Americans "here on our own soil." He also told the Senate that the FBI is conducting “multiple, ongoing investigations” into people affiliated with the U.S.-designated terrorist group. What Wray didn’t say is that the FBI has been investigating Hamas’ biggest ally in America for the past 30 years – without filing any charges.

Each year during the month of November, I am proud that our nation takes this time to reflect on the unique heritage, rich history and special contributions of Native Americans. As a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, I always take this special time to reflect on my tribal heritage and the importance of tribes and their members in the United States.
