The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint this week in Brown County to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul says his proposed Bonuses for Cost-Cutters Act would help tackle the national debt by paying federal workers to find waste. Congressional scorekeepers say they have no basis for estimating how much it would save.

The driver was identified as Larry D. Nunley, 56, of New Vienna. Nunley was charged with failure to comply, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger, identified as Kristopher W. Bennett, 38, of New Vienna, was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. 

GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) announced Sept. 8 that it has signed an agreement to acquire Consolidated Precision Products (CPP), a leading manufacturer of highly engineered castings, from private investment firms Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners.

At the most recent meeting of the Highland County Land Reutilization Corporation (land bank) board, held Aug. 20, administrator Jason Johansen announced that all of the initial projects in the 2026 iteration of the state Building Demolition & Site Revitalization Grant program are completed.

Scioto County Prosecuting Attorney Shane A. Tieman announces that Anton Glynn Miles, 36, of Detroit, Mich., has entered a guilty plea in the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas to 16 felony offenses, one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity (F1), three counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound (F1) with Major Drug Offender specification, and 12 counts of possessing criminal tools (F5) relating to the fleet of commercial rental vehicles used to transport narcotics across state lines.
