Ohio awarded $1.8 million for broadband mapping

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has announced the State of Ohio was awarded a $1.8 million federal grant to help implement the Strickland Administration’s plan to compile and map broadband availability in Ohio, including location, available speed and type of technology delivering the service.

Law change could mean windfall

A change in Ohio legislation could result in approximately an additional
$354,000 in tax revenue for Highland County in 2010. Commissioners Gary Heaton and Shane Wilkin told The Highland County Press that a change in the application of taxes could help the county considerably next year. As first reported at www.highlandcountypress.com, commissioners had anticipated total receipts being down close to $3.5 million in 2010 from 2008 levels.

Ohio's Consolidated Electric Cooperative Wins $2.4 Million from U.S. Department of Agriculture

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland today recognized Consolidated Electric Cooperative's (CEC) award of $2.4 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to construct a 166-mile broadband network in North Central Ohio. This award, a grant-loan combination, was made possible through assistance from Connect Ohio, the state's broadband initiative, and is a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's $7.2 billion broadband program.
