The Highland County Board of Commissioners, Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer, read separate proclamations on behalf of Highland County's newest Eagle Scouts, twin brothers Joseph and James Otworth.

Highland County commissioners proclaimed April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Wednesday’s meeting. 

The Ohio Board of Regents has announced expanded access to free online tutoring for students enrolled in Ohio’s university system. While eTutoring has been offered on 21 college campuses in Ohio, beginning this year all public and private institutions of higher learning in the state will be invited to join the Ohio eTutoring Collaborative, free of charge to the university and free of charge to students.

State Rep. Cliff Rosenberger (R- Clarksville) will hold district office hours in Highland County at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16 at the Highland County Commissioner’s Office (119 Governor Foraker Place, Suite 211, Hillsboro).

A meet the candidate event for Brenda Hottinger Losey will be held Wednesday, April 25.

    The Board of Trustees of the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District voted unanimously to allow Paint Township to join the district, during a special meeting held Friday.
    "This is good for Paint Township, and this is most definitely good for the district," said board member William Redenbaugh. "We will give them as good a coverage as they've seen, and we'll work to improve everything in Paint Township and in the rest of the district. I think this is a plus."

The Paint Township Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to join the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, with services expected to begin Sunday. 
     
     The trustees held their regular monthly meeting Thursday at the AmVets on North Shore Drive. A special meeting to discuss moving from contracted services with the city of Hillsboro to becoming a member of the Greenfield area fire district was held March 22. During that meeting trustees Randy Mustard, Steve Karnes and Jeff White stated that they were not dissatisfied with the services provided by Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, but with the Hillsboro City Administration.

    A cigarette is the reported cause of a fire that swept through a Dreher Lane home Wednesday afternoon.

    No injuries were reported, but the Paint Creek Joint Fire and Ambulance district said it anticipates the structure, in the Paint Creek Lake area, will be a total loss due to the heat and smoke damage the mobile home sustain.
