Congressman Taylor applauds Senate introduction of the Regulation Decimation Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) applauds the introduction of his Regulation Decimation Act in the Senate by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Senator James Lankford (R-OK) on February 26, 2025. This followed Congressman Taylor’s introduction of the Regulation Decimation Act in the House of Representatives on January 23, 2025.

Senator Rick Scott said, “The federal government has grown exponentially during the four years of the Biden administration, with hundreds of thousands of federal regulations costing Americans $1.9 TRILLION. President Trump and DOGE are committed to streamlining government to make it work better for the American people, and every agency should follow suit and cut waste and red tape within their own walls. It’s time to refocus our federal government and its agencies to be good stewards of American tax dollars and working better for the American people by passing the Regulation Decimation Act to hold agencies accountable.”

President Trump signed an Executive Order on January 31, 2025, which would similarly require federal agencies to “identify at least 10 existing rules, regulations, or guidance documents to be repealed” for every new regulation introduced.

“The federal government should be focused on core constitutional functions like ensuring our nation’s defense capabilities and overseeing the application of the law – not micromanaging which cars Americans can drive or what appliances they can use in their kitchens,” said Congressman Dave Taylor. “Congress must trim the fat from our bloated federal government to keep bureaucrats in check and lift the burden of unnecessary regulations from American families, businesses, and industries. The Regulation Decimation Act will codify President Trump’s deregulatory Executive Order and enable our Nation to take bold action like unleashing American energy and reducing unnecessary paperwork for small family businesses. I look forward to working with Senator Scott, Republicans in Congress, and President Trump to reign in government overreach and enable Americans to thrive.”

Congressman David Taylor represents Ohio’s Second Congressional District which includes Clermont, Clinton, Pike, Adams, Brown, Highland, Ross, Scioto, Pickaway, Hocking, Vinton, Jackson, Lawrence, Gallia, and Meigs counties, as well as part of Fayette County. Taylor serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Agriculture Committee. Prior to serving in Congress, Taylor worked as an assistant prosecutor for Clermont County before joining his family’s concrete business, where he ultimately served as President.
