    Patrol OVI arrests up more than 1,300

    GEORGETOWN – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is warning drivers: If you choose to drive impaired, you will be arrested. As part of the Patrol’s mantra – Trooper Shield – and their ongoing effort to contribute to a safer Ohio, troopers have had increased focus on impaired driving enforcement in 2011.

    Following standoff, Chillicothe police arrest man wanted by FBI
    After a brief standoff this week, Chillicothe Police Arrested a Stoutsville man who was wanted by the FBI.
      According to the CPD, they had received information that Landon Price, 34, was at an apartment at 203 Lincoln Park in Chillicothe.

    Mikkelsen withdraws from commissioners race
    Hillsboro resident Terry Mikkelsen has withdrawn from the race for the Highland County County Board of Commissioners. 
    Mikkelsen, a Republican, told The Highland County Press Wednesday morning that he is withdrawing for "personal reasons," and that he made it official Wednesday morning at the Highland County Board of Elections.

    Ohio Ethics Commission Chair Ben Rose has asked not to be considered for a nomination to a second term. Rose was appointed to the Commission in 2006 and was elected Chair by Commission members during each of the last three years. His term ends January 1, 2012.

    One man was arrested and two women were injured Monday evening in a one-car crash that snapped an electric pole in half, stopped traffic on U.S. 50 west for several hours and knocked out power for an estimated 1,575 Hillsboro residents.

    'American Pickers' TV show to air Lynchburg episode Dec. 12
    The "American Pickers" television show, starring Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, brought their popular History Channel program to Lynchburg on Thursday, Oct. 6. The famous pickers were guests of Main Street resident and business owner David Shaffer and were checking out his antique motorcycles collection. This episode will air Monday, Dec. 12 on the History Channel.

    Hillsboro Street Department buildings 'ransacked'

    The Hillsboro Street Department Building on Railroad Street was entered and "ransacked," Saturday, with an unknown number of items stolen. 

      The Hillsboro Police Department reported that at approximately 8:43 a.m. Saturday "an employee with the city of Hillsboro found that two buildings at the street department complex were entered overnight."

    Three people were injured Friday evening in a two-vehicle head-on collision on U.S. 50 West. At least two of the victims sustained serious injuries and were transported on to a trauma center. An occupant of one of the vehicles allegedly fled the scene, and was later found by firefighters with the use of thermal imaging cameras.
