The Girls Strikers of the Leesburg SAY Soccer Club closed out a truly historic season by claiming the state championship and completing a flawless 16–0 record — an achievement that will be celebrated for years to come. This marks the first-ever state title for the Girls Strikers division in club history.

From the season-opening whistle, Leesburg played with the confidence and composure of a team on a mission. Their consistency, teamwork and unwavering chemistry led them to the championship match against Visitation Vikings, where they got their last W of the season with a 3-2 score.

The final whistle ignited a wave of cheers and tears from players, coaches, parents and the crowd who traveled to support the team. For the athletes, many of whom have played together for years, the moment was the culmination of hard work and determination.

“This group of athletes truly deserved everything they achieved,” the coaches said. “They supported each other, played with heart in every game, and proved that perfection comes from commitment.”

The Strikers’ journey to the state title was fueled by the commitment of each player who gave their all, week after week.

Representing Leesburg this season were: Sam Cluxton, Daphne Hamilton, Maggie Jackson, McKenna James, Tilleah Lightle, Amelia Mann, Millie Purvis, Briella Rollins, Natalie Schwelgin, Avery Scott, Nora Stuckey, Launa VanWinkle, Lyla VanWinkle and Layla Wilson.
