Snow hits south-central Ohio hard; ODOT crews working for winter

CHILLICOTHE – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) are working this morning to clear the state highway system, but a powerful winter storm continues to pound the region.
Burst pipe causes ceiling of New Directions to collapse, causing thousands in damages
A burst pipe in an apartment above the New Directions Youth Ministry in Greenfield caused the ceiling of the facility to collapse Wednesday, causing thousands of dollars in damages. New Directions had just completed a $40,000 renovation of the facility, located at 251 Jefferson St. earlier this year.
 Director Mike Anderson and his wife Becky said that the damage is "devastating," but they are trying to keep it in perspective.

Belfast Pike shooting leaves one in reportedly critical condition
The Hillsboro Police Department is currently investigating a shooting in the area of Belfast Pike, which left one person in what emergency personnel are calling critical condition.
 According to Officer Todd Whited of the HPD, a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. reported to the dispatch center that there had been a shooting in the 60 block of Belfast Pike.
Greenfield firefighters rescue horses that fell through frozen pond
Battling the freezing temperatures and snowy conditions in Highland County Wednesday,  the Paint Creek Joint Fire and Ambulance District in Greenfield rescued two horses that had fallen through the ice of a pond.

Governor-elect Kasich Appoints Colonel Deborah Ashenhurst to be Ohio Adjutant General 


COLUMBUS -  Governor-elect John Kasich on Wednesday appointed Colonel Deborah Ashenhurst to be Ohio Adjutant General In this capacity, Col. Ashenhurst will lead the 18,000 soldiers and personnel who make up the Ohio National Guard.

The Hillsboro Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team earned their second win of the season Tuesday, Dec. 14, defeating Adams County Christian School, 58-45.
Indians win 3rd SCOL game; upend Panthers
The Hillsboro Indians defended their home court Tuesday night and in the process took the early lead in the South Central Ohio League, defeating previously-undefeated Miami Trace, 78-70 at Hillsboro High School.
