SCOL History: SCOL looks to be balanced for 1982

The key word for the 1982 SCOL football season was to be balance. The league had been extremely close for the past two years. 1980 had been a nightmare for engravers, who had to crowd Circleville, Wilmington and Washington C.H. on the championship cup. Before that, you had to go all the way back to 1958 to find three teams ending in a tie for the title, when McClain, WCH and Franklin Heights all finished the season in a tie. There were only six teams in the SCOL in 1958, and three of them tied for the championship.

Pawlenty to talk about for 2012
“‘Our great nation is facing a crisis in part because the government’s out of control, and it’s particularly out of control with its spending,’ Gov. Pawlenty said. ‘It’s going to take us into a deep hole even further than we already are. And I hope we can get consensus on that. But our team, the ones who just got elected to the majority of the Congress, and all the other conservatives and Republicans, said: ‘Look if you elect us this time we’re actually going to do this stuff.’ Well, now we’ve got to do it.’”

Audra Cook selected to Cleveland State Hall of Fame
Cook, a native of Greenfield, was the first Viking to earn first team all-league honors three times, leaving CSU as the holder of school records for defensive rebounds (749) and rebounds (1,030) and in the process, becoming the first player to lead the league in rebounding three times. The preseason Midwestern Collegiate Player of the Year in 1999-2000, she went on to receive the post-season honor as well after averaging 19.0 points and 11.1 rebounds a game.

HDH celebrates expansion
Highland District Hospital recently relocated and expanded their laboratory to encompass an additional 1,100 square feet of space. This upgrade allowed HDH to expand Lab services that formerly had to be sent away for diagnosis.
