Cholesterol 101: The good, the bad and the basic
    Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance found in every cell in the human body. It helps to produce cell membranes, hormones, vitamin D and bile acids that allow your body to digest fat. Cholesterol also helps in the formation of memories and is vital for neurological function. In many ways, cholesterol is a good thing, but as with all good things, too much of it can be a bad thing.
Commissioners, hospital disagree on $4,163 expense
Highland County commissioners and Highland District Hospital remain at odds over an invoice of more than $4,000 related to disinterment, autopsy, and re-interment of a Highland County man's remains, following his Oct. 30, 2010 death.

Hastings takes out petitions to run for mayor
After spending years revitalizing structures in the Uptown Hillsboro area, Drew Hastings has taken out petitions to run for the office of the mayor of Hillsboro.
 Hastings told The Highland County Press that he took out petitions with the Highland County Board of Elections Office, and that he plans to run as a Republican.
School board completes self-assessment
The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education filled out a self-assessment from the Ohio School Board Association during a meeting held Wednesday at Hillsboro High School.
 The A-Z assessment allows the school boards to measure ares in which have made improvement, and areas that still need work.
Area students give back to homeless shelter
Highland County students have made an effort to give back to their community with initiatives that benefit the Highland County Homeless Shelter.
LC set to enshrine first Hall of Fame class 
Friday (Jan. 21) is scheduled to be a night for the Lynchburg-Clay athletic community to honor five of their greatest in the athletic field, as they will enshrine the first class of the Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Hall of Fame. (The game has since been postponed to Saturday, Jan. 29 due to inclement weather.)

Kasich joins legislators to begin JobsOhio legislative process
COLUMBUS - On Thursday,  Gov. John Kasich, Rep. Mike Duffey (R-Worthington), and Senate President Tom Niehaus (R-New Richmond) started the process to create JobsOhio, a new, private sector jobs-creation agency to replace Ohio¹s outdated state-run economic development program and help revive Ohio¹s economic development efforts.
