Meth lab discovered in Paint Township
On Wednesday, Feb. 9, Highland County Sheriff's Office deputies went to a residence in the 12000 block of U.S. Route 50 in the Rainsboro Community in order to attempt to make an arrest on Brian R. Snyder, 29, on an outstanding warrant out of Hillsboro Municipal Court.

Smith indicted on aggravated robbery charge
A Highland County man arrested in January in connection with an armed robbery at the Beechwood Food Mart has been indicted on first-degree charges.
  Larry W. Smith, 41, was indicted by a grand jury this week in Highland County Common Pleas Court on one count of aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree.

Ohio expansion projects to create and retain 1,189 jobs
The State Controlling Board has approved grants administered by the Ohio Department of Development that are expected to create 353 jobs and retain 836 positions. Six Ohio businesses will receive more than $1.5 million in economic development grants to aid economic growth, leveraging more than $163 million in additional investment in the state.

U.S. Secretary of labor announces continued assistance for laid off air park workers
TOLEDO — While in Ohio Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis announced a $2,932,835 National Emergency Grant supplemental award to provide services to an additional 729 workers affected by layoffs at Wilmington Air Park in Wilmington, according to a release from the DOL website. Following an initial grant in November 2008 and one other previous award of supplemental funding with dislocated workers added as more layoffs occurred, a total of approximately 2,360 individuals now will be served.
