    Thanks to our friends at Crestwood Care Center for sponsoring our Saturday, Feb. 12 Valentine dinner and dance party. The party starts at 5 p.m. with a delicious meal followed by dancing to the music of the New Sunshine Band, a Bid Euchre game, pool games and cornhole. Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door.

Highland County Community Action Organization Executive Director Julia Wise warned county commissioners of significant cuts to the organization if projected federal funding reductions come to fruition. Wise and Mark Current met with commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer at the Feb. 9 board meeting.

The city of Hillsboro will have a carryover of $70,000 into 2012, according to projections from the Hillsboro Auditor and Safety and Service Director.
 The finance committee of the Hillsboro City Council met Thursday to discuss the budget and a recommendation to a full council, which meets Feb. 14.
 Most departments saw decreases in their budget, while the Hillsboro Life Squad saw an increase of nearly $40,000.
