"Your Place" for the Adult Learner Program and United Way are making a difference for local residents

Southern Ohio Center of Excellence’s (SOCOE) “Your Place” for the Adult Learner Program recently received funding from United Way of Greater Cincinnati to teach the “Your Place” for the Adult Learner class at the Adams/Brown Community Action Program’s (ABCAP) Building in Georgetown, Ohio. This program provides essential services for class participants by assisting individuals-in-transition in achieving their goals of attaining education and/or employment for the betterment of their families and society as a whole.
Conner graduates from Army training
Army National Guard Spec. Benjamin R. Conner has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.
Jacobs charged with attempted murder

A Hillsboro man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a December shooting on Belfast Pike. 

Jimmie Jacobs, 64, allegedly shot 28-year-old Jonathan Harris in the face, according to the Hillsboro Police Department, on the evening of Dec. 15 at J and J Automotive, located at 60 Belfast Pike.

Kasich signs tax incentive legislation
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has signed legislation creating powerful tax incentives that will help retain jobs and revive Ohio’s economy.  Kasich signed the bill at the headquarters of American Greetings, whose CEO Zev Weiss announced at the bill-signing ceremony that the company and its 2,000 jobs will stay in Northeast Ohio.
