Feeding America, USPS, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), the National Rural Letter Carriers Association (NRLCA) and Campbell Soup Company will be joined by entertainer and entrepreneur Nick Cannon in the annual food drive to "Stamp Out Hunger" Saturday, May 14.

After a hospital stay from a brief or extended illness, surgery, or injury, patients often look forward to going home for recuperation around familiar things and comfortable surroundings. For some older adults, the thought of going home might be accompanied sometimes with unsettling feelings. Individuals may require assistance upon their return home in order to continue with their recuperation and extended care and might feel scared or concerned once they are removed from the hospital care environment.

Portman serves on the Advisory Board of the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University, and over the past few years, Portman has co-taught several public policy courses on a variety of topics, including the federal budget, federal contracts, and innovation in the public sector.

In order to reduce the cost of doing business in Ohio to make Ohio companies and the state more competitive, Gov. John R. Kasich has announced he is seeking an overall 4 percent cut in workers’ compensation base rates for a total cut in premiums of approximately $65 million annually.  Bureau of Workers Compensation Administrator and CEO Steve Buehrer submitted the proposal to the BWC Board of Directors.

At Hillsboro, Coach Gary West would have Hugh Ballein, Britt Cluff and Tyrone Cumberland returning from last year’s squad, along with Mark Roberts, David Collins, Greg Nartker and David Williams. The Indians were capable of playing some good basketball but were given to inconsistency.

Haley Barbour was professional enough to see this and stepped aside this week. Sarah Palin should follow his lead. After two innings, the game was tied, but the Fairfield Lions scored late inning runs to seal the rain-shortened 4-3 win Thursday against the Eastern Brown Warriors at EBHS.
