The Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Hills and Dales Training Center.

The meeting is open to the public.

The Hillsboro Police Department has arrested Gerald R. Williams, 49, of Hillsboro on charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of heroin, receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon.

Kelly Walker opened her Saturday, Aug. 20 performance at the Fling Barn with Bobbie Gentry's 1967 classic "Ode to Billie Joe," a song about the day "Billie Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge." Kelly, a.k.a, Kelly Red, dedicated the song to her late husband, Whiteoak High School graduate Kevin Walker, who passed away two months ago at the too-soon age of 47, just 11 days before the couple's 20th wedding anniversary.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has obtained a four-count indictment from a federal grand jury in Cincinnati charging Allan Wright, a state wildlife officer in southwest Ohio, with trafficking in and making false records for illegally harvested white-tailed deer in violation of federal law.

Ohio's unemployment rate was 9.0 percent in July, up slightly from 8.8 percent in June, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).
