The State of Ohio has rested in the presentation of its case against Wesley Coonrod. The jury was removed from the court room at approximately 2:50 p.m. while the defense and state addressed matters before Judge Rocky Coss. Defense attorney William Mooney asked that the court dismiss the charges of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications and aggravated arson, saying the state had not met its burden of proof. The court overruled that motion. The defense will now go forward with presenting its case.

Jurors heard testimony from the mother of Thomas and Stephen Coonrod and saw photos from the investigation into the fire that killed the two little boys on March 7. A photo displayed for jurors showed a nearly empty white-walled closet, clearly depicting tiny, sooty handprints, two toy soldiers, and the outline on the carpet of where the two little bodies were discovered.

The auditor's office of the state of Ohio has released the 2008-2009 audit for the city of Greenfield. While there were no findings for recovery, there were noted areas of material non-compliance and findings of significants deficiency.

As a firefighter described discovering the lifeless bodies of Thomas and Stephen Coonrod "face-up in the closet" Wesley Coonrod broke down, covering his eyes with his hand and quietly sobbing during the second day of testimony in his capital murder trial in Highland County Common Pleas Court. 

Later, he wiped his eyes with a tissue as a former EMT described how when she looks at her own 5-year-old child, "I still see their faces."
