Greenfield home sustains significant damage during fire

No injuries were reported, but a Greenfield home sustained an estimated $45,000 in damages after a fire broke out in the Mirabeau Street structure Tuesday morning. 

According to Chief Bradley George, of the Paint Creek Joint Fire and EMS District, the station was dispatched to 938 Mirabeau Street at 4:12 a.m. Tuesday. 

"The first truck on scene reported flames and smoke showing out the back," George said. "It turned out that the fire originated in the kitchen."

The family was outside the house when firefighters arrived he said, and no injuries were reported. 

George said firefighters were able to contain the blaze mostly to the kitchen area, but that there was heavy heat and smoke damage in the home.  

"We believe it was electrical in nature," George said. "Right now I'm looking at a kitchen appliance." 

George estimated the damage of the home and its contents to be approximately $40,000 to $45,000.

Ten firefighters responded to the fire, and they were on scene for approximately two and a half hours.
