Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders place third in Fayette Christian School Tournament

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE – The Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders took part in the Fayette Christian School Invitational Classic for a five-team varsity volleyball tournament on Oct. 6-7.
The Lady Crusaders finished the tournament taking home third place after going 2-2 in tournament play, facing the Ross County Christian Academy Lady Eagles, the Adams County Christian School Lady Eagles, the Fayette Christian School Lady Crusaders and the Wilmington Christian Academy Lady Lions.
In the opening round of the tournament, the HCA Lady Crusaders faced the RCCA Lady Eagles, where they lost in two sets 26-24 and 25-19. This loss sent HCA to the bottom of the bracket to face the ACCS Lady Eagles in the second round of the tournament.
The HCA Lady Crusaders defeated the ACCS Lady Eagles in the second round, eliminating them from tournament play. Both sets went in favor of HCA, 25-08 and 25-17. This propelled the HCA Lady Crusaders to the third round where they would face the FCS Lady Crusaders.
The clash of the Lady Crusaders was a tight match with the point differential in the two sets only being seven points. The HCA Lady Crusaders won both sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-22. The HCA Lady Crusaders now had a chance at the championship game against RCCA, but they first had to face the WCA Lady Lions who had already beaten them three times earlier in the season.
In their fourth matchup of the season, the WCA Lions and HCA Lady Crusaders faced off in the semifinals of the tournament. The Lady Lions took both sets and the eventually defeated RCCA in the championship to take first place in the tournament. The Lady Crusaders lost the first set 25-16 and the second set 25-23.
The HCA Lady Crusaders received the third place trophy for the tournament after finishing 2-2. Alanna Stoltzfus was named the all-tournament player from HCA.
Stoltzfus led HCA in assists for the tournament with 26 and playable passes with 79. Carlee Puckett led the team in kills with ten. Taylor Barber finished the tournament with the team leading six aces.
The tournament finished with teams in the following order: WCA – 1st, RCCA – 2nd, HCA – 3rd, FCS – 4th and ACCS – 5th.
