Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders earn fourth win of the season

The Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders played host to the Liberty Bible Academy Lady Patriots on Friday, Sept. 15 in a varsity girls volleyball matchup. The Lady Crusaders took home the victory in three sets, winning 25-22, 25-15 and 25-23.

Alanna Stoltzfus led the Lady Crusaders in assists and playable passes with 11 and 30, respectively. Annie Henderson led HCA in kills with five. Carlee Puckett led the Lady Crusaders in aces with 11.

The Lady Crusaders battled hard in the first set to take a 1-0 lead against the Liberty Bible Academy Lady Patriots. Puckett and Taylor Barber led the Lady Crusaders in scoring in the first set with eleven and six respectively.

Emma Korte led the Lady Crusaders in the second set with eleven points with a run of nine straight points. Korte also earned three kills and 13 hits in play in the game. The Lady Crusaders took a 2-0 lead after winning the second set 25-15.

The third and final set went back and forth between the two teams fighting for the lead. The Lady Crusaders were able to pull ahead thanks to the serving of Stoltzfus who scored three straight points. The Lady Patriots drew to within a point of HCA, but fell just short. The Lady Crusaders took the win and a clean sweep against the Lady Patriots, winning the final set 25-23.

The Lady Crusaders now stand at 4-6 on the season. On Sept. 18, the Lady Crusaders will take on Wilmington Christian Academy at WCA for their next varsity match. Below, Carlee Puckett (32) goes up to tip the ball over the net while Sharae Napier for LBA goes to block it.
