Tecnocap LLC announces expansion in Belmont County
Tecnocap LLC, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), Ohio Department of Development, and the Belmont County Port Authority, announced an investment of over $4.5 million to move its operations to Bellaire, Ohio, creating 29 new jobs. The development is being supported by a tax credit from the Ohio Department of Development.
Founded in 1993, Tecnocap is a worldwide metal packaging manufacturer specializing in metal closures for glass jars and plastic containers with expansion into the home canning market.
“Tecnocap choosing to move its operations to Ohio attracts a worldwide metal packaging manufacturer and 29 jobs to the village of Bellaire,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “Tecnocap’s investment is in both the town and its people as it is revitalizing a former canning facility that stood vacant for decades and filling it with new machinery and employment opportunities for Belmont County’s workforce.”
The company is a leading producer of tinplate and aluminum closures as well as aluminum monobloc aerosol cans and aluminum bottles for some of the world’s best-known consumer brands in food, beverages, spirits, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, industrial and household products.
“Tecnocap is excited in the partnership with JobsOhio that played a pivotal role in supporting the transition through incentives and grants. We look forward to creating new opportunities, fostering strong partnerships, and contributing to the local economy,” said Darrick Doty, Director of Human Resources, Tecnocap LLC.
The investment includes the purchase and renovation of a 90,000 square-foot building in Bellaire, Ohio that has been vacant since the 1990s. Facility improvements will include dock repairs, electrical upgrades and roof repairs, as well as machinery and equipment.
“We are incredibly grateful to Tecnocap for their investment in Belmont County, which is creating much-needed jobs and contributing to the growth of our community,” said Larry Merry, Executive Director of the Belmont County Port Authority. “A special thank you to OhioSE Project Manager Marisa Vetula for her dedicated efforts in securing this vital incentive from JobsOhio, making this opportunity a reality for our region.”
JobsOhio is supporting the project with a $200,000 JobsOhio Revitalization Grant. The JobsOhio Revitalization Program offers loans and grants to bridge the financial gap between the appealing cost of brownfield sites and the cost of site redevelopment. This program mitigates financial risk and accelerates projects, returning land and buildings to productive use more efficiently.
“We are pleased to be a part of the growth of Tecnocap LLC as the company expands into Belmont County,” said Katy Farber, OhioSE Vice President. “Advanced Manufacturing is at the core of many operations in the OhioSE region, and we welcome this new investment.”
