Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), JobsOhio and the Athens County Economic Development Council have worked with global diagnostics manufacturer, QuidelOrtho, to bring a new manufacturing production line to Athens County. The site currently employs over 150 people and per the agreement with JobsOhio is expected to increase headcount by at least 10 percent in the coming years.

This year, when JobsOhio and Cleveland State University released their report on shale-related investment in the state of Ohio, it showed the state crossing a huge economic milestone. The natural gas and oil industry has officially saturated Ohio with more than $100 billion in investments. The report projects that the Ohio Valley will produce 45 percent of the nation’s natural gas supply by 2040. 

So far in 2023, 22 companies in Southeast Ohio have utilized the JobsOhio Inclusion Grant to fuel business growth, creating 124 jobs and leveraging over $10 million in fixed capital investment across the region.
