A Leesburg man was sentenced to community control this week after pleading guilty to failure to comply with the order or signal of police officer.

Aiden Morgan, 21, of Leesburg was indicted on the third-degree felony charge in January and pleaded guilty March 26.

A bill of particulars alleges that on or about Nov. 25, a sheriff’s deputy observed Morgan speeding in the Rocky Fork Lake area and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Morgan drove away from the deputy, with the deputy reportedly “reaching speeds of approximately 90 to 100 mph” in an attempt to catch up to Morgan.

It is also alleged that Morgan ignored a traffic control device and “nearly caused a crash with two other vehicles” while evading the deputy.

During a sentencing hearing May 1, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Morgan to three years of community control. He also ordered Morgan’s driver’s license to be suspended for three years, commencing May 1.
