The Greenfield Exempted Village School District Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Greenfield Middle School gymnasium. 

On Nov. 6, two Hillsboro FFA members, Adalyn Gaines and Raeden Workman, attended the District Job Interview Competition. 

On Oct. 22, seven of our members competed in each division for the job interview contest.

School districts have made some progress in addressing the national shortage of school bus drivers, but there still aren’t as many drivers as there were in 2019, according to a new study.

The McClain Drama Department presented “Check Please” Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15.

Fairfield Local Schools presented a learning session Nov. 17 at the Ohio School Board Convention in Columbus. 

Southern State Community College’s Spring Semester begins Jan. 12, 2026, with registration now open to all current and new students.

During the November meeting of the Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools Board of Education, the district acknowledged several students and a longtime educator in the district and thanked NCB Bank for a $15,000 donation to provide food on weekends for students.

On October 29-31, the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 98th annual National FFA Convention.

Applications are still being accepted for Spring 2026 scholarship funding at Southern State Community College. Current students, as well as new students, can apply.

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, on SSCC’s Central Campus, Room 347, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro, for their regular Board meeting. 

Wilmington College announced its recent purchase of the BrightFarms facility in Wilmington and revealed plans to revitalize the shuttered space into the Wilmington College Agriscience Complex. The acquisition includes the existing 120,000 square-foot hydroponic greenhouse, as well as an adjacent 20 acres bordering the College’s 267-acre Academic Farm.

A slew of conservative groups will lead a new coalition to spur civics education and push the subject in a more patriotic direction, the U.S. Education Department announced, raising alarms for some traditional civics and education groups that were not included in the initiative.

Fairfield High School students who participated in the Nov. 10 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Highland Health Providers Leesburg Family Medicine school-based health clinic welcomed Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and first lady Fran DeWine at the celebration. 

The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session Monday, Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Hillsboro Board of Education Office, 39 Willettsville Pike for the board meeting and executive session if necessary.
