Melinda Miller Partridge

Melinda Miller Partridge, 81 of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023 with her daughters by her side at the farm she so loved. 

Her passing followed a week filled with love, laughter, music and family surrounding her.

She was born July 16, 1942, the daughter of the late Geneva (Gordon) Miller, a revered educator in Lynchburg, and George Miller, Hillsboro High School band director for over 30 years. Melinda graduated from Ohio University and began her career in education, following in the footsteps of her parents. She taught in Lynchburg, Bright Local and Hillsboro Elementary Schools before her retirement. She adored teaching and every single student mattered to her. It wasn’t unheard of for some of her past students, now adults, to visit her at her home.

Melinda loved nature. She was an avid gardener, birdwatcher and rescuer to many animals that were lucky enough to cross her path. She also found equal joy in music, and her passion for it was contagious. Only her love for family was greater than her interests, and it was always shared, always unconditional.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Ann (Dan Pancake) Partridge of Chicago, Ill. and Valerie Partridge (Brook) Wise of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, Charlie Wise and Claire Wise of Cincinnati and Elizabeth Ann Partridge and her parents Amy and Matt Connors of Alexandria, Ky.; her sister, Melissa (Roger) Smith of Hillsboro; and her long-time companion, Doug Chaney of Hillsboro. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Partridge.

A private graveside service will be held at Hillsboro Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Melinda’s family asks that memorial donations be made to the Ohio Wildlife Center, online at https://www.ohiowildlifecenter.org/donate/
