GEORGETOWN — The Whiteoak Wildcats exploded for double figures in hits, runs and RBIs Wednesday at Georgetown High School. WHS scored 17 runs on 13 hits and 14 RBIs to take home a non-league win over the Georgetown G-Men, 17-1.

Eight Wildcats had at least one hit in the non-league game, sending the Wildcats' overall record to 6-4.

WHS scored first with one run in each of the first two innings. In the third, they added two runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Then came the fourth when they broke open the game, scoring 13 runs for a 17-run lead. The G-Men answered with one run in the bottom of the fourth.

"This was an impressive offensive display," WHS head coach Chris Veidt said. "Our ability to hit it where it was pitched to all fields was nice to see."

Whiteoak was led by Jesse Bradds, who took over the plate with a 3-for-4 night, with four RBIs, two doubles and two runs.

Michael Carraher, David Deer and Ryan Emery all had two hits for the visiting team. Carraher was 2-for-3, including a triple and a double. The senior added four RBIs and scored three runs.

Deer was also 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Emery was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs.

Michael Smith, Luke Taggert, Gage Carraher and Tyler Williams all had one hit. Smith added two RBIs and one run, while Taggert, who hit a double, scored three runs and one RBI. Carraher, who also hit a double, scored one run. Williams also scored a run.

"Jesse tore the cover off the ball. It was good to see some baseballs fall for him," Veidt said. "He's been hitting the ball hard all year but not had the best of luck.

"Ryan (Emery) and David (Deer) also had nice days at the plate. Ryan is really starting to heat up."

The win was credited to Michael Carraher, improving his record to 2-0 on the season. Carraher pitched five innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk. He struck out eight.

"Mike Carraher had a great day at the plate and on the mound," Veidt said. "He gets better with each pitching appearance."[[In-content Ad]]
