Whiteoak keeps on rolling in SHL, defeats Manchester

MANCHESTER — It was business as usual in the Southern Hills League for the Whiteoak Wildcats on Tuesday, as they easily defeated the Manchester Greyhounds, 9-1 at MHS.
The Wildcats (10-1, 15-5) stayed in first place in Division II of the Southern Hills League as they are in a first-place tie with the Fayetteville Rockets, a team they will play on Thursday at Fayetteville. Before that game, the Wildcats must keep pace in the SHL as they are scheduled to face the three-peat Division I SHL champion Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at WHS, Wednesday.
The win gives the Wildcats a seven-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, WHS scored three runs in the third, three runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and two runs in the seventh. RHS scored their lone run in the sixth inning.
WHS totaled 10 hits with Gage Carraher going 2-for-3 with three runs, including a double and triple. Luke Taggert also went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Also tallying one hit each were Michael Smith (one run, one RBI), Zach Docter (two runs), Jesse Bradds (four RBIs), Tyler Williams (double, one RBI), Doc Seip (one run) and Justin Emery (one run).

"We continue to hit, and for the last three out of four games, we have exploded offensively," WHS head coach Chris Veidt said. "Even our outs are hard.
"Gage and Jesse were both impressive for us at the plate (Tuesday), although in different ways. Gage was very explosive, driving the ball to the gaps, whereas Jesse was very situational, driving in four runs with just one hit."
The pitching win was credited to Docter, who pitched all seven innings for the complete game. Docter allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk. The junior struck out 14 batters, improving to 3-1 on the season.
"Zach really settled down into a much-needed performance when we had to have it," Veidt said. "He got better as the game progressed, and this is a great start for us, as we hammer down the stretch with a great deal of momentum."
