For the second consecutive meet the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats came home with hardware from a meet in Highland County.

After winning the Highland County championship last Tuesday, the Lady ’Cats came in second place in a nine school invitational held this past Saturday, in Greenfield.

Leading Whiteoak was senior Felicia Stevens who was second overall with a time of 22:41.

Leanna Lomske finished seventh with a time of 23:33. Clarissa Johnson was 11th with a 24:03, and Jennah Lomske was 14th with a 24:24. Haley Bingamon wrapped up the Whiteoak scoring by finishing in 27th place finish to clinch the runner-up trophy.

Whiteoak coach Doug Hughes was impressed with his team.

"These girls are really coming on strong, especially the three freshman. Felicia (Stevens) is a 3-time All-SHL runner and she is always leading the way. Leanna and Jennah Lomske, along with Clarissa Johnson have repeatedly improved their personal best times, and have allowed our team to score very high for the first time in my tenure," Hughes said. “The hard work is definitely paying off as we collected three individual medals in last meet and four girls won medals at this one."
The Whiteoak boys finished in sixth place. Nick Eldridge edged into the final medal by finishing 15th with a time of 19:50. Mark Crowe was nearby as he finished 17th at 19:54.

Rounding out the scoring for Whiteoak was Steven Oney 36th (22:11), Matt Forsythe 37th  (22:21), Tyler Roberts 39th (22:52) and Anthony Lomske  50th (24:06).
The invitational included some outstanding performances from other local runners. Jon McDonald and Caleb Mootispaw, of host McClain, dominated the boys' varsity race by finishing first and second, with times of 17:23 and 17:28.

Also in the boys' race John Cain, of Fairfield, took ninth place with a time of 19:21.

Whiteoak, Fairfield and Lynchburg will all compete at the Southern Hills League championships on Saturday the 17th at Ripley.
