Whiteoak Wildcats force 15 walks for 19th win of season; defeat Hillsboro

The Whiteoak Wildcats showed extreme patience at the plate on Wednesday night, as they forced 15 walks in a non-conference win over their Highland County counterpart, the host Hillsboro Indians, en route to a 12-1 five-inning non-conference victory over HHS at Richard Shaffer Park. 

WHS totaled four hits in the win with Carson Emery going 1-for-1, scoring four runs, while also collecting one RBI, two walks and three steals. 

Ian Griffith finished 1-for-3 with a run, four RBI and a walk. There was also Nate Price finishing 1-for-1 with a double, three runs, three RBI, three walks and two steals.

Luken Roades ended his day at 1-for-3 with two runs, a walk and two steals.

The Wildcats also had Landon Barnett finish with two runs, two walks and a steal. David Donohoo forced two walks and had an RBI. Zander Roades drew two walks, collected an RBI and grabbed a stolen base. Eli Roberts for WHS finished with an RBI, two walks and a steal.

For Hillsboro, Travis Ross was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Ovid Wilson was 1-for-3, Bryce Parsons went 2-for-3 and Will Hart ended his day at 1-for-3.

Also for the Indians, Garet Thompson was 1-for-2 with a double and one run. Gavin Thompson forced a walk, and Brogan Priest finished with a walk.

Ian Griffith pitched one inning for Whiteoak, allowing no hits, runs or walks with two strikeouts.

WHS also had Luken Roades pitch four innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.

As for the scoring of the game, WHS led 5-0 after the first inning, then added two runs in the top of the second, three runs in the third, and two runs in the top of the fifth. Whiteoak finished with four hits and one error.

Hillsboro’s lone run scored in the bottom of the fourth inning. They totaled seven hits and had one error.

The win improves Whiteoak to 19-1 overall,  while HHS moves to 4-15 overall.
