Whiteoak volleyball starts season with 2-1 record

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats have begun their 2023 season with two wins and a loss since the season started on Saturday, Aug. 19.

On Saturday, WHS played in the Spike and Dig Tournament, where they lost to the McClain Lady Tigers and defeated the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs.

On Monday, Aug. 21, WHS went on the road and defeated Felicity-Franklin High School.

As for the games on Saturday, Whiteoak lost to MHS in two straight games (they played in a best of three event), falling by scores of 25-14 and 25-15.

The kills leader for WHS was senior Jaylie Parr with four, while senior Lydia Carr totaled three kills. Junior Kylee Hamm had two kills, and with one kill each were seniors Brianna Hill and Reagan Newton.

Hamm and Carr each collected a block for the Lady ’Cats, and leading with 10 digs was Hill.

Senior Claire Ames led WHS with seven assists.

Against Lynchburg-Clay in the third-place game, Whiteoak won by scores of 25-18 and 25-21.

On Monday at FFHS, Whiteoak won the first, third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21, 25-10 and 25-19. Whiteoak lost set two at 25-22.
