U.S. Marshals Service, Press Release

The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested fugitive Santos Carrillo last month on an outstanding arrest warrant from Davidson County, N.C.

In January of 2016, an arrest warrant was issued for Carrillo charging him with a first-degree sex offense of a child. The Thomasville North Carolina Police Department investigation revealed Carrillo allegedly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13. The United States Marshals Carolinas Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) adopted the investigation.

U.S. Marshals and the Thomasville Police Department continued to search for Carrillo after learning he had allegedly fled to Mexico. Years later, their persistence led investigators to locating Carrillo in Marietta, Ohio.

The Carolinas Area Regional Fugitive Task Force forwarded this information to the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, and within a day Carrillo was arrested in the 100 block of Sacra Via Street in Marietta, Ohio. Carrillo was placed in the custody of the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

United States Marshal Michael Black stated, “the United States Marshals Service and its law enforcement partners throughout the country will not give up when it comes to finding a fugitive accused of crimes against children. While this fugitive was on the run for oven seven years, he was arrested within 24 hours of the dedicated investigators learning his location.”

The Columbus Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team is a fugitive-focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state and federal authorities including the Columbus Division of Police, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Bexley Police Department, Cambridge Police Department, Capital University Police Department, Delaware County Probation Office, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster Police Department, Mount Vernon Police Department, Ohio Attorney General Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal, Office of Inspector General Social Security Administration, United States Secret Service, United States Attorney’s Office, Utica Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Zanesville Police Department.
