A first-half interception for a touchdown by Hillsboro senior defensive lineman Ayden Clemons gave the Indians a momentum swing that changed the remainder of the game, as Hillsboro held a 23-point halftime lead and eventually defeated the visiting Goshen Warriors in Week 2 by a 56-19 score Friday night at Richards memorial Field.

The fourth installment of the Frontier Athletic Conference matches took place on Thursday (Aug. 24) at Buckeye Hills Country Club, where Miami Trace won the event.

In their first meeting in four months, members of the Highland County Land Reutilization Corporation (land bank) board were updated on the summer’s activities and ongoing projects.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians hosted the Unioto Lady Shermans Wednesday evening in a non-conference tennis contest at HHS and were unable to gain the win, as UHS won the match with a team score of 4-1.

Wednesday was a winning day for the Hillsboro Indians boys soccer teams, as they gained a non-conference victory over the host Logan Elm Braves, 3-0.

Wednesday (Aug, 23) saw the Hillsboro Indians travel to face the West Union Dragons in a non-conference boys golf showdown, where they fell to the host WUHS squad.

It was an eventful first week of high school football, but the games continue this week for the Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers, as the two Highland County teams continue their season in Week 2.

The Hillsboro Garden Club met Aug. 22 to prepare for the upcoming Highland County Fair. After a thorough cleaning of Floral Hall, the meeting was called to order by President Judith Stivender.

The Highland County GOP held their annual “family picnic” Sunday, Aug. 20 at the VFW Post 9094 in Hillsboro with over 100 people in attendance.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians tennis team gained a Frontier Athletic Conference victory Tuesday night, traveling to Fayette County and defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions by a 5-0 score, sweeping all five events played.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians hosted the third Frontier Athletic Conference girls golf match on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Hillsboro Elks Golf Club. McClain won the team portion of the FAC event, and Aubrey Arnold (Jackson) was the individual medalist.

A number of students have been named to the dean’s list at Wilmington College for the summer 2023 semester.
