A Hillsboro man indicted on 27 counts last October in connection with a Highland County Task Force investigation was sentenced Tuesday, March 19 to a minimum of 13 years in prison and ordered to forfeit cash, weapons and vehicles.

Hillsboro City Council heard the first reading of an Ohio Department of Transportation resolution for pedestrian crosswalks during their Thursday, March 14 meeting. The resolution was introduced as an emergency, but a motion to suspend the three-reading rule failed to meet the required three-fourths majority after city law director Randalyn Worley strongly encouraged individuals with an interest in an uptown business to abstain from voting.

Hillsboro City Council members recommended a change to their current election terms and heard the first reading of a new ordinance implementing a minimum water bill during their Thursday, March 14 meeting. 

Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene will host an Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 23 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Crossroads Park in Hillsboro (green space on West Main Street).

Rescue Weekend, April 20-21, is an event being planned by the churches of Highland County. The weekend has a full agenda of activities designed to raise awareness and funds towards rescuing children from human trafficking.
