A Chicago man who committed a home burglary in Cincinnati while illegally possessing two firearms before leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit was sentenced in federal court to 87 months in prison.

Last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers stationed at the Port of Cincinnati seized an outbound shipment declared as containing clothing after they discovered it also contained loose gold and gold bars worth far more than the declared value of $125 USD.

Jesse Carter, 32, of Cincinnati, was sentenced in U.S. District Court recently to 84 months (seven years) in prison for illegally possessing a fully-automatic weapon and possessing a pistol and ammunition after previously being convicted of a felony.

A federal jury has convicted a Cincinnati man of one drug and two firearms crimes. The defendant was found guilty on all counts as charged.
