The McClain varsity girls soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating Peebles, 6-0 Saturday afternoon on McClain Field in Greenfield.

The McClain coaching staff knew it was going to be a tough start to the new season after graduating so many experienced and talented seniors last year, and the inexperience showed early on in the Tigers’ 24-8 season-opening loss at Adena Friday night.

The McClain Tigers earned a spot in the Division IV playoffs last season, regained possession of the Rotary Bowl trophy and took a step forward in building their program into a year-to-year contender.

McClain senior Ethan Hill wrestled two days at the 2024 OHSAA State Wrestling Championships this past weekend (March 8-9) at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus. 

The McClain Lady Tigers got back to their winning ways after two tough losses to Minford and Lynchburg with a convincing 60-30 victory over visiting Washington Wednesday night.

The McClain Lady Tigers varsity basketball team raised their overall record to 7-5 after a convincing 59-17 victory over Blanchester in Greenfield last Saturday afternoon (Jan. 6).

It was a game of two halves Friday night on the McClain hardwood when the Tigers and visiting Vinton County Vikings battled to a 72-69 double-overtime thriller, where the Vikings squeaked by at the end.

Both the McClain Lady Tigers and Fairfield Lady Lions finished their 2023 portion of their basketball schedule with a Highland County rivalry game Friday night. The two teams battled at McClain Gym, where it was the home team Lady Tigers outlasting the Lady Lions, 29-16.

The McClain Tigers saw their overall record drop to 1-8 on the season after losing a non-conference game to the visiting Adena Warriors, 50-27 Wednesday night in Greenfield.
